Nicotine Swing hails from Tenerife and has been active for more than 15 years. The band has been recognised at the Premios Canarios de la Música and has performed at festivals and events in India, South Korea and Colombia. In El Sauzal, they will be performing at the Sala Polivalente in the Teatro El Sauzal.
Musically, the group draws on gypsy jazz and the tradition of Django Reinhardt. From this, they have developed their own style, blending influences from bolero, pop, Italian song and other forms of roots music. The concert is part of the 'Jazz in the Hall' series.
The programme also features their third album, “Decidí”. The eight tracks blend swing and Gypsy jazz with other elements, all in the service of the song. The lyrics revolve around heartbreak, resentment and loss, oscillating between irony, vulnerability and a palpable emotional darkness.
The concert starts at 20:00. It lasts around 70 minutes and is suitable for all age groups. Tickets are available from 8 euros.
