Ópera de Tenerife is staging Wagner's “Lohengrin” in the Sala Sinfónica at the Auditorio de Tenerife. The opera tells the story of Elsa, who wants to believe in Lohengrin, in a miracle and in the hope of a saviour. Around her, mistrust, rumours and half-truths shape the course of events. The production links this plot to questions that remain relevant today, when simple answers clash with complex realities.
The performance is sung in German and features surtitles in Spanish and English. The Sinfónica de Tenerife provides the musical accompaniment, alongside the Coro Titular Ópera de Tenerife-Intermezzo. Paul Daniel is the musical director, and Guillermo Amaya is the stage director. The set and spatial design are by Pablo Menor, the costumes by Raquel Porter, and the lighting design by Ion Aníbal López. The production is a collaboration between the Fundación Ópera de Oviedo and the Auditorio de Tenerife.
The leading roles are played by Airam Hernández as Lohengrin and Miren Urbieta-Vega as Elsa von Brabant. Also appearing are Magdalena Anna Hofmann as Ortrud, Olafur Sigurdarson as Friedrich von Telramund, Vazgen Gazaryan as Heinrich der Vogler and Milan Perišić as the King's Herald.
The opera will be performed on three dates: 15, 18 and 21 November 2026. Once the performance has begun, no further admission will be permitted. Admission is restricted to visitors aged five and over.
