Main festival day in honour of the Virgen de los Dolores

The main day of the Fiestas in Barranco Hondo combines religious celebrations with a programme of village events. At 13:00, Mass begins in honour of the Virgen de los Dolores, accompanied by music from the Chájogo folk group; in the evening, there is a procession led by the Hermandad del Cristo de la Buena Muerte and the Banda San Miguel from La Laguna. The festivities then draw to a close with a fireworks display by Hermanos Toste.

Sunday, 11 October 2026, is the main day of the festivities in honour of the Virgen de los Dolores in Barranco Hondo, in the municipality of Candelaria. The day begins at 8:00 with the ringing of bells. At 13:00, Mass is held in honour of the Virgen de los Dolores, accompanied by music from the Chájogo folk group.

In the afternoon, the programme continues with a children's festival. At 20:00, the closing procession sets off through the streets of Barranco Hondo. The venerated image of the Virgen de los Dolores is carried by men and women from the neighbourhood. The procession is accompanied by the Hermandad del Cristo de la Buena Muerte and the Banda San Miguel from La Laguna.

This will be followed by a fireworks display organised by Pyrotechnik Hermanos Toste. The celebration marks the culmination of a programme of festivities that began on 2 October with the Los Lomos Trail. According to the local council, the image of the Virgen de los Dolores is kept in the Church of San José in the centre of the neighbourhood.
