With “Negro Luz”, Raquel Klein presents a choreographic installation that explores darkness as a theatrical material and as a space of expanded perception. At its heart lies the outline as a site of dialogue between presence and absence. The work approaches this theme in a calm, contemplative manner and, through bodily imagery and theatrical means, develops a stretched, floating perception of time.

The performance utilises very dim lighting and live-generated soundscapes. This creates an atmosphere in which orientation, form and identity consciously dissolve. The piece regards the audience's gaze as an active part of the action: it is not a continuous narrative that guides the evening, but rather the body, rhythm, space and the shifting visual relationships.

Raquel Klein is responsible for the artistic direction, choreography and performance. Albert Tarrats is responsible for the live composition of sound and light, and also acts as sound and lighting technician. The spatial and lighting design is also by Raquel Klein. The production was supported by Rodrigo Sobarzo and Joaquín Collado. The work forms part of LAV-C, the Laboratorio de Artes Vivas y Ciudadanía de Canarias, a platform for contemporary performing arts in the Canary Islands.

The performance at Espacio La Granja lasts one hour and is recommended for visitors aged twelve and over. According to the organisers, a 20 per cent discount applies to certain groups, including the unemployed, young people aged between twelve and 25, students, people aged 65 and over, large families and people with a recognised disability of 33 per cent or more. A special-rate ticket costing four euros is available for pupils at theatre, dance, circus and music schools. Holders of the Bono Cultural Joven can purchase tickets at the theatre box office one hour before the performance begins or by booking via email up to 24 hours in advance.
