'Neva' is a play by the Chilean playwright Guillermo Calderón, published in 2006, which brought him international renown. The plot is set in St Petersburg on what is known as Bloody Sunday and follows three actors as they attempt a rehearsal, whilst political repression escalates outside. Among the characters is Olga Knipper, the widow of Anton Chekhov.
The reading is linked to the play "Cerebro", which is also directed by Francisco Medina Donoso. It is intended as an introduction to his artistic approach and to the underlying concept of the production. A visit to 'Neva' is particularly recommended for those attending 'Cerebro'. Jorge Becker, the lead artist in 'Cerebro', performed 'Neva' with his company more than 15 years ago.
Francisco Medina Donoso is directing. The readers are Carlota Gaviño, Elisa Cano and Francisco Medina Donoso. The performance lasts approximately 70 minutes.
Admission is free, subject to availability. The performance is recommended for those aged 18 and over; access to the auditorium is generally restricted to those aged five and over. The doors at La Salita open between 15:00 and five minutes before the start. Once the doors have closed, no further admission will be permitted.
