Opening speech for the Barrio Nuevo festivities in La Laguna
The Pregón marks the start of the festivities in honour of Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Fátima in Barrio Nuevo with a ceremonial address, tributes and choral music. In the Canary Islands, a 'Pregón' is the traditional opening speech of a fiesta. Francisco Hernández will speak in the parish church; catechists Ángeles Padrón and Irma Pérez will be honoured, and the Coro Gospel Shine Voices choir will perform. This will be followed by a reception.

The opening ceremony for the Barrio Nuevo patron saint festivities will take place at the Parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Fátima in La Laguna. The opening address will be given by Francisco Hernández, La Laguna's Councillor for Civic Participation. The evening forms part of the festivities in honour of Nuestra Señora del Rosario de Fátima, which run from 9 to 18 October.
The programme, starting at 20:00, includes the ceremonial address, a tribute to the catechists Ángeles Padrón and Irma Pérez, and a performance by the Shine Voices Gospel Choir. A drinks reception will follow.
The venue is the parish church at 74 C/ Obispo Pérez Cáceres in Barrio Nuevo. The Pregón thus marks the start of the festivities in the neighbourhood.
