At the heart of the story is a young man who, growing up in a family steeped in military tradition, breaks with the war and defies the path laid out for him. His stance makes him a problem and a traitor in the eyes of those around him. The production thus explores the conflict between individual conscience and the pressure of a tradition of violence passed down through generations.
Ópera de Tenerife is staging Benjamin Britten's work as a two-act opera in the Sala Sinfónica of the Auditorio de Tenerife. David Greilsammer is the musical director, with Emiliano Suárez directing.
