The production by Festival Peralada and Oper Köln will be staged over two evenings in the Sala Sinfónica of the Auditorio de Tenerife. Daniel Espasa is the musical director. Rafael Villalobos is responsible for the direction and costumes, Emanuele Sinisi designed the set, and Albert Faura is in charge of lighting. Eike Ecker is overseeing the revival of the direction and costumes, whilst Vera Morcillo is in charge of the set.
Handel's opera tells the story of Orlando, a soldier from whom those around him expect heroism, toughness and self-control, whilst he is inwardly breaking down. His vulnerability clashes with the image of the unshakeable warrior. The opera is sung in Italian, with surtitles in Spanish and English.
The cast includes Xavier Sabata as Orlando, Emöke Baráth as Angelica, Sabina Puértolas as Dorinda and Anna Bonitatibus as Medoro. The Baroque orchestra Vespres d'Arnad will be performing.
Once the performance has begun, the auditorium will remain closed. Admission is restricted to audience members aged five and over.
