The discussion will take place in the Plaza de San Francisco in La Montañeta, above Garachico. The topic will be the 70 years since the construction of the Ermita de San Francisco and the various stages of its development up to the present-day chapel. The event will begin with the recitation of the Rosary at 18:00, and the discussion will start at 19:00.
Speakers will include Ana Oramas, a former member of the Spanish Parliament and granddaughter of the founder, Don Leoncio Oramas; Isidoro Sánchez García, a forestry engineer and former Member of the European Parliament; and Manuel Nogales, a researcher at the CSIC and son of Don Juan Nogales, the forestry engineer who was present at the inauguration. Also confirmed to attend are Lorenzo Dorta, a former councillor for the Island Council and former mayor of Garachico, and José Heriberto González Rodríguez, the current mayor of Garachico.
Local residents Magdalena González Gorrín and Guillermina de León González will also be in attendance. The event will be chaired by Juan Manuel Castañeda from Garachico, a former councillor for La Laguna. The event forms part of the La Montañeta festivities, which will be held from 2 to 7 October 2026.
