PERIPLO sees travel as a way of discovering the world from different perspectives. Literature, exploration and contemporary issues come together in a programme that brings stories, places and personal experiences to life. The focus is on the literary discussions of 'Voces 2026', in which invited authors and experts share their knowledge of travel and exploration.
Those announced for 2026 include, amongst others, José Naranjo, Juan Luis Rod, Javier Brandoli, José Ignacio Carnero, Margaryta Yakovenko, Óscar Liam, Capucine Trochet, Ramtin Zigorat, Antoinette Tidjani Alou, Josep M. Palau Riberaygua, Lola Escudero, Gabriela Wiener, Elena Ortega, as well as Mónica García Prieto and Javier Espinosa.
The 2026 edition is themed 'La humanidad que resiste'. The festival's manifesto interprets resistance as mutual care, solidarity and empathy, and thus as a way of safeguarding humanity and community in difficult times.
The programme also includes the exhibition "Travesías". In it, José Naranjo and Juan Luis Rod trace the stories of 13 young people who arrived in the Canary Islands alone. The exhibition connects five African countries, four islands and life journeys that continue after their arrival. Running in parallel is the Periplo 2026 literary competition on the theme of "La humanidad que resiste", for which short stories can be submitted until 12 October.
