The performance is designed as a shared theatrical experience for families. Children and adults are encouraged to feel part of the action, as the play relies on the direct participation of the audience. As a result, the plot unfolds not only on stage, but also through interaction with the audience.
"Piratas al Caribe" has been running for 15 years and, during this time, has been staged in schools and at public performances across all the Canary Islands as well as on the Spanish mainland. Furthermore, in the three years leading up to the pandemic, the production formed part of an international spectacle at Jungle Park. Over the years, the play has undergone numerous changes, and the pirate characters have continually told new stories for children and adults alike.
Armando Jerez is responsible for the script and dramaturgy. The production is directed by María Rodríguez and Armando Jerez. Set design: Carmensa Rodríguez and María Rodríguez. Art direction and costume design: Carmensa Rodríguez. Lighting design and photography: Aarón S. Ramos; additional photography: José Raúl Guadarrama. Sound is handled by Suso González. The play is produced by Timaginas Teatro and Lucía Jerez. The cast includes Armando Jerez as Bokerón, as well as Andreas Trujillo as Captain Hook and Captain Blackbeard.
