The ring-jumping competition on horseback takes place in the district of La Marzagana in El Bosquito and forms part of the 2026 Fiestas de La Perdoma. In this equestrian event, known as a 'sortija', the aim is to strike and impale a small suspended ring whilst galloping.
The festival programme stipulates that participating riders must have insurance and wear a helmet. The event forms part of the patron saint festivities of La Perdoma, which are celebrated from 30 September to 11 October in honour of the patron saints Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario and San Jerónimo.
According to the programme, the festivities have a tradition stretching back more than 70 years. The programme is organised by the La Perdoma Festival Committee with the support of La Orotava Town Council.
