The course forms part of a programme of events accompanying the exhibition 'Óscar Domínguez. Cartas a Marcelle Ferry' at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes. Over the course of six sessions, each lasting three hours, participants will explore various forms of modern epistolary literature. The course will examine texts and approaches by Franz Kafka, Antonin Artaud, Marguerite Yourcenar, Virginia Woolf and James Joyce.
The programme includes different types of letters depending on the addressee, including letters to one's mother, father, friends, fellow human beings or lovers. It also covers the personal diary, which is understood here as a form of letter to oneself. The workshop combines theoretical reflection in class with critical reading and writing assignments for home, the results of which are later discussed together.
The workshop will be led by the writer and cultural mediator Antonio López Ortega, a Venezuelan-Canary Islands author who studied Hispanic Studies at the Sorbonne. The workshop will take place in the Biblioteca de Arte on the ground floor of the TEA. The event is free of charge, but registration is required.
