The year 1917: Concert by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra

The evening centres on two very different perspectives on fate and history. First, Sergei Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 in C minor, Op. 18, will be performed, comprising the three movements: Moderato, Adagio sostenuto and Allegro scherzando. The soloist is Simon Trpčeski, who takes on this work with its sweeping melodies, direct emotionality and virtuoso passages.

After the interval, Dmitri Shostakovich's Symphony No. 12 in D minor, Op. 112, nicknamed 'El año 1917', will be performed. The four movements are entitled 'Revolutionary Petrograd', 'Razliv', 'Aurora' and 'The Dawn of Humanity'. The work is dedicated to Lenin and is linked to the official commemoration of the Russian Revolution. The concert will be conducted by Honorary Conductor Víctor Pablo Pérez.

Before the concert, at 18:30, the Sinfónica de Tenerife will give an introduction in the Sala Avenida in the foyer of the Auditorio de Tenerife. José Lorenzo Chinea from the Asociación Tinerfeña de Amigos de la Música (ATADEM) will lead this talk. Admission to the introduction is free, subject to availability.

Once the hall doors have closed, no further admission will be permitted. Admission to the concert is restricted to visitors aged five and over.
