From the Teno Mountains down to the sea and then by water taxi to Los Gigantes: the Masca walk is perhaps the most beautiful hike on Tenerife.
Masca
Masca („the hidden village“) is a mountain village in the north-west of Tenerife. It has a population of 105, spread across 80 houses. Situated in the Teno Mountains at an altitude of between 650 and 800 metres above sea level, the village has only been accessible via a tarmac road since the 1960s.

Masca can now be reached via a scenic road with many tight bends from Buenavista and Mount Teide. The heart of the village is the small square by the church. Masca offers a wonderful view over the Teno Mountains. The village is always worth a visit. However, you should take the bus or use a slightly more powerful car. Some small cars – as well as the odd novice driver – reach their limits on the steep climb up to the village.
