Michelin-starred Víctor Suárez leaves La Orotava for Costa Adeje

Haydée serves its final menu on 25 January, leaving the north of Tenerife without a starred restaurant. The chef reopens in May at the Gran Tacande Wellness Hotel & Relax, taking his team and much of the current menu with him.

In January 2025, the Haydée by Víctor Suárez@@ restaurant will close its doors. The Michelin-starred chef is leaving La Orotava. This means the region will lose its only Michelin-starred restaurant. However, Suárez will remain in Tenerife.

The chef, who has been awarded a Michelin star and a Repsol Sun, will be moving on to Tenerife shortly afterwards. However, he will be heading to the other end of the island, as Víctor Suárez is joining the „Gran Tacande Wellness Hotel & Relax“ in Costa Adeje.

In the south of the largest of the Canary Islands, Suárez is set to go in search of Michelin stars once again. His new restaurant in the Dreamplace Group’s five-star hotel is due to open in May.

Michelin-starred chef Víctor Suárez leaves northern Tenerife

Suárez will serve his final menu in the north of Tenerife on 25 January. However, the chef intends to remain true to his culinary philosophy. The menu is also set to remain largely unchanged for the time being.

The Michelin-starred chef is thus taking the next step in his career. He feels there are fewer opportunities for further development at Haydée. Word on the street is that, with the backing of the hotel chain, significant improvements in both quality and volume are possible. This is therefore an important step for him, with a view to possibly securing a second star in the near future.

In culinary terms, Víctor Suárez draws inspiration from the Canary Islands. He pays particular attention to the cuisine of La Gomera, where his grandmother came from. It was she who gave the restaurant its name.

Suárez focuses on regional Canary Islands cuisine

Suárez’s cuisine is regarded as strictly regional and rooted in the origins of Canarian cuisine. With great creativity, he brings the traditional culinary art of the Canary Islands into the present day in a sustainable way.

Furthermore, Suárez is regarded as a perfectionist when it comes to waiter and sommelier service. The extensive wine list is renowned far beyond the borders of La Orotava, as is the bread, which is always home-baked.

Two two-star restaurants on Tenerife

The team is also set to move south with him. This was reportedly a requirement imposed on the hotel owners. The Michelin-starred chef has stated that, together, they intend to aim for even greater heights in the south of Tenerife.

It is said that both the kitchen and the restaurant are equipped to the highest standard and have everything it takes to win further awards. This paves the way for it to possibly become Tenerife’s third two-star restaurant before long.

So far, the „M.B.“ in Guá de Isora and „El Rincón de Juan Carlos“ have managed to do so. With Víctor Suárez, a competitor is now within striking distance. After all, the Rincón is also located in the municipality of Adeje.
