For some people, Papas Arrugadas is the most delicious food there is. And that’s how it should stay. Nevertheless, the restaurant scene in the Canary Islands has been blossoming for years. Even the harshest critics can’t fail to notice this. And so, the Canary Islands‘ restaurant scene has been awarded further stars.
Most people, even those with little knowledge of the subject, are familiar with the concept of stars. However, Michelin awards other distinctions as well. As a result, in addition to the two best restaurants, other establishments were also recognised.
The general public is usually unfamiliar with the BIB Gourmand award, but the culinary world is, figuratively speaking, licking its lips at the prospect of such an accolade. Here are the new and returning winners in both categories:
These are the new Michelin-starred restaurants on Tenerife
The first winner is Haydée by Víctor Suárez. It is situated in La Orotava in the north of Tenerife. In addition, Taste 1973 in Playa de las Americas was also honoured. Both restaurants were awarded a star by the Michelin Guide for their exceptional cuisine during a grand gala on Tuesday. And for both restaurants, this is their first Michelin star.

In addition, the restaurants Tasca Silbo Gomero in La Laguna and El Aguarde in Santa Cruz were awarded the BIB Gourmand. This award, which has been presented since 1997, recognises restaurants that offer excellent cuisine at particularly good value for money.

In addition, the restaurants El Rincón de Juan Carlos in La Caleta and M.B. by Martín Berasategui in Guía de Isora retained their two stars.
Alongside the two new award winners, the restaurants SAN-Hô in La Caleta, NUB in Costa Adeje and Abama Kabuki in Guía de Isora each retain one Michelin star.
Also retaining their BIB Gourmand status are the San Sebastián 57 in Santa Cruz, the La bola de Jorge Bosh in Tegueste, the Furancho La Zapatería in Icod de los Vinos and the El secreto de Chimiche in Chimiche.
