The production is conceived as a theatrical and musical journey. It takes its starting point from songs by Kurt Weill, from which an evening exploring exile, memory and deceptive promises of redemption unfolds. The character of the passenger guides us through Berlin, Paris and New York, representing female artists who have remained unseen, as well as people who have been consigned to oblivion through exile. Music and visual storytelling carry the narrative in equal measure.
Nicola Beller Carbone and Pedro Chamizo are responsible for the dramaturgy and direction. Nicola Beller Carbone also performs as a soprano and actress. María Valverde handles the piano and arrangements, whilst Pedro Chamizo is responsible for the visual design. The performance takes place at the Teatro Pérez Galdós in the Sala Principal.
The musical programme is divided into three sections: 'Mar de Berlín', 'Mar de París' and 'Mar de Nueva York'. The Berlin section features, amongst others, 'Berlin im Licht Song', 'Moritat von Mackie Messer', 'Die Seeräuber Jenny', 'Surabaya Johnny', 'Nanas Lied' and 'Alabama Song'. This is followed by the Paris section with "Es regnet", "J'attends un navire", "Complainte de la Seine" and "Youkali". The New York section features "One Life to Live", "My Ship" and "I'm a Stranger Here Myself".
The performance begins at 20:00 and ends at 21:05. There is an admission charge.
