Feast Day of the Virgen de la Luz, with a commemoration and procession
The festival of the Virgen de la Luz in La Isleta combines a commemoration of the naval battle of 1595 with a procession. From 18:00, the gardens of the Castillo de La Luz will host a commemoration of the victory over Francis Drake's fleet, and the 'Castellano of the Year' will be announced. This will be followed by the symbolic torchlight procession and a procession through several streets in the neighbourhood.

The main part of the festivities begins at 18:00 in the Jardines del Castillo de La Luz in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. There, the victory over Francis Drake's fleet in 1595 will be commemorated. The 'Castellano of the Year' will also be announced during the celebrations.
At 18:30, a symbolic flame is to be carried from the former parish boundary. At 20:00, the procession of the Virgen de la Luz will begin.
The route passes through Pérez Muñoz, Taliarte, Guayre, Utiaca, Inés Chemida, Faro and Prudencio Moral. The event forms part of the festivities in honour of Nuestra Señora de la Luz in La Isleta.
