The Fiestas de La Encarnación y La Manzana are classified as a festival of regional tourist interest and shape community life in Valleseco for several weeks. The council focuses on its religious heritage, the primary sector, the culture of Gran Canaria's mid-altitude regions and local produce. Particular emphasis is placed on the apple and the Valleseco cider made from it, which has already won awards at national and international competitions.
To kick off the festivities on Saturday 26 September, the programme features a new addition: Valleseco's first regional folklore fair. The programme includes arts and crafts, traditional dance, music, 'versadores' (traditional poets), Canarian games, Silbo Canario, as well as performances by folklore groups and 'parrandas'. A 'Baile de Taifas' is planned to round off the day. Also on this day, the 'Premios Manzana de Oro' will be presented for the twelfth time. This year's award goes to the parents' association of the 'Juntos por Ell@s' employment centre.
On Sunday, 27 September, the Day of Traditions and Customs will take place in the La Laguna recreation area, one of the major agricultural and livestock-focused events on the festival programme. Around 350 animals are expected, and prize money totalling approximately 7,000 euros has been set aside. The programme will feature, amongst other things, threshing with cows, donkey rides, sheep shearing, traditional milking, cheese-making and activities for children. In addition, the fifth Copa Hípica SVF will take place, featuring riding stables from Gran Canaria, Tenerife and La Palma. Four signposted parking areas with space for around 1,200 vehicles have been announced for visitors.
A highlight will be the 52nd Romería-Ofrenda in honour of Nuestra Señora de La Encarnación on 4 October from 18:30. A romería is a traditional pilgrimage featuring decorated processions, music and offerings. The celebration dates back to 1974, when young people from Zumacal brought bread and apples to the Virgin. Today, the local districts and associations of the municipality take part with gifts from the countryside, folklore and charity initiatives, the food from which also benefits social groups. A programme for various age groups has been announced in the Plaza Municipal, featuring music, tribute shows, entertainment and comedy, including performances by Armonía Show, Furia Joven, Valledry Fest, La Parranda, the Banda de Música de Teror and Maestro Florido.
