The Chapuzón Nocturno is one of the long-standing highlights of the Fiestas de La Naval in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The event kicks off with a procession by the city's Chinese community along the promenade. This is followed by verses performed by the Murga Los Melindrosos, before the traditional cry of "¡Chapuzoneros, al agua!" signals the start of the communal night-time dip.
From 20:30, the Papahuevos will be out and about with the Banda Archipiélago. Also from 20:30, a concert by Tacones Rojos is scheduled to take place in Calle Tenerife, next to the Mercado del Puerto. After the swim, the festivities continue from 22:30 in the Plaza de la Luz with a concert and a verbena. Los Lola and Dani Calero will be performing there.
The Chapuzón Nocturno is part of the Antiguas y Tradicionales Fiestas de La Naval in honour of Nuestra Señora Virgen de La Luz. Papahuevos are oversized festival figures that are paraded through the streets accompanied by music during celebrations on the Canary Islands.
