The 'Pie a Tierra' regatta forms part of the Antiguas y Tradicionales Fiestas de La Naval in La Isleta. It takes place on the Sunday of the Octava, the final day of the festivities in honour of the Virgen de La Luz. The race is therefore part of the closing programme of the festivities in this district of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The race takes place off La Puntilla at the northern end of Las Canteras beach. According to our source, the race can be watched from the seafront promenade and from the rocks. The focus is on the Canary Islands lateen-rigged sailing boats, which are regarded as the traditional boats of the bay.
The regatta is organised by the La Luz de La Naval association in collaboration with the city council of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. It forms part of the sporting programme for the Fiestas de La Naval, which take place in La Isleta from 2 to 18 October.
