Achamán was founded in 1976 in the Barrio Nuevo neighbourhood of La Laguna, when a group of young friends came together through their shared passion for Canarian and Latin American folk music. The anniversary programme "Cuando el tiempo suena, 50 años de música" bears the same title as the new album and bridges the group's past and present.
The performance takes the audience on a journey through five decades of repertoire, featuring isas, folías, malagueñas and seguidillas, as well as folk songs that link the Canary Islands with Venezuela, Cuba, Mexico and Argentina. According to the announcement, it is a journey through songs, voices and the various generations of musicians in Achamán. The group's discography includes, alongside their debut album "Achamán", "De Parranda", "Confraternidad", "Sin Distancia", "Vivo", "40 años de amistad" and "Por amor".
The concert will take place at the Teatro Leal in La Laguna. Seats are numbered. Tickets for people with reduced mobility are available by telephone or in person at the theatre box office.
