"Ciclo Moda Brasileira 23" is part of the 23rd edition of the Tensamba Festival, which brings Brazilian music and culture to the Canary Islands. The series takes place in the chamber music hall of the Teatro Leal in La Laguna and comprises two events.
On Wednesday 14 October, Carlos Javier Castro Brunetto, a professor in the Department of Art History and Philosophy at the University of La Laguna and coordinator of the Arte, Moda e Identidad research group, will speak. His talk will explore Brazilian fashion as a form of cultural expression and examine how clothing contributes to the construction and representation of identities.
On Tuesday 27 October, there will be a discussion with Elia Cuairán, Tamara Toledo and Lara Martrus Guillén. The discussion will also be moderated by Carlos Javier Castro Brunetto. The participants, who are affiliated with the 'Arte, Moda e Identidad' research group at the University of La Laguna, will take the central question posed by the title as their starting point to reflect on changes in contemporary fashion and its relationship to identity.
Both events begin at 19:00. Admission is free, subject to availability.
