The ensemble from Extremadura will be performing a programme of five works by contemporary Spanish composers in Santa Cruz. The programme includes 'Arlecchino' by J. Planells, 'Jenseits dieseits' by J. M. López López, 'Absolute!' by J. Rueda, 'Machaut Architektur' I and V by J. M. Sánchez Verdú, and 'icebergs melt at night' by José Luis Perdigón. The work by the composer from the Canary Islands will receive its world premiere at this concert. Jordi Francés will conduct.
The performance lasts 47 minutes and is suitable for audience members aged twelve and over. The ensemble employs techniques that characterise contemporary concert music, such as shifting timbres, extended playing techniques and closely interwoven layers of sound. As a result, the focus is not only on the melody but also on the interplay between the instruments themselves.
The concert also includes an accompanying event as part of the #endiálogo series. On 8 October at 19:00, musicologist and researcher José Luis Besada will speak at the RACBA in Tenerife about the relationship between music and architecture. The focus will be on Sánchez Verdús's work 'Machaut Architektur', which will also be performed at the closing concert. Admission to this talk is free.
The concert will take place at Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz. Admission costs five euros; tickets are already sold out.
