From 8 to 12 October, the La Laguna Book Fair will take place in the Plaza del Cristo in La Laguna. The programme features more than 200 events, including book launches, author talks, panel discussions and workshops. There will also be sections dedicated to comics, illustration, poetry and fanzines, as well as special events for children and young people.
Fifty exhibitors are taking part in the fair, including 30 bookshops and 20 publishers and organisations. According to the organisers, this is the largest number of bookshops to take part in the past 15 years. For the first time, bookshops from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are also represented.
Among the more than 80 participants are Alicia Llarena, Cecilia Domínguez Luis, José Miguel Perera, Pedro Flores, Santiago Gil, Víctor Álamo de la Rosa, Andrea Abreu, Helena Resano, Manuel Vilas, Nerea Pérez de las Heras, Pol Guasch, Lana Corujo, Rayco Pulido, Aida González Rossi and Angelo Nestore. The programme also includes the new initiative 'El libro de tu vida', which looks back on formative reading experiences and asks questions such as which book from one's childhood has stayed in one's memory or which one would give as a gift to a loved one.
The book fair is part of the national network of book fairs, the Red Nacional de Ferias del Libro. It is organised by the City Council of La Laguna and APROLITE, the booksellers' association of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, with the participation of the Instituto Canario de Desarrollo Cultural, the Directorate-General for Trade and the Island Council of Tenerife.
