The Rebellion of the Outcasts: Experimental Theatre

laGodot esCénica's production brings historical memory to the stage to speak of the present. Verses from the Siglo de Oro are juxtaposed with prose by other silenced women from the period of the Spanish Civil War. The authors mentioned include Ana Abarca de Bolea, Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz, Leonor de la Cueva y Silva, Ana Caro and María de Zayas.
The play is underpinned by women's struggle for freedom. The production combines classical texts with the present day, dramatic text with performance, and live music. The text and direction are by Guaxara Baldassarre, who also appears on stage alongside the violinist Óscar Guerra Suárez. The composition and musical direction are by Lourdes Suárez.
"La rebelión de las parias" won the award for best lighting at the 2025 Premios Réplica and received several other nominations. The performance lasts 60 minutes and is recommended for ages 14 and over. It takes place at the Espacio La Granja in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
