Trio Corrente is one of the defining ensembles of contemporary Brazilian instrumental jazz. The group was founded in 2001 by Edu Ribeiro on drums, Fábio Torres on piano and Paulo Paulelli on double bass. Their sound combines the elegance of choro and Música Popular Brasileira with the freedom of jazz.
At the concert in La Laguna, the trio will be performing as part of the 23rd edition of the Tensamba Festival, which brings Brazilian music and culture to the Canary Islands. Their repertoire combines classics with their own compositions. The group's style is described as a balance between virtuosity and intimacy.
Trio Corrente also gained international recognition through their collaboration with Paquito D'Rivera. For their joint album "Song for Maura", the group won a Grammy and a Latin Grammy for Best Latin Jazz Album. The performance begins at 20:30 at the Teatro Leal.
