On Tuesday, the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria Local Police and the National Police evicted a woman with a four-year-old and a 16-year-old son from a property in the Pedro Infinito neighbourhood under a court order for non-payment of rent, as they found no evidence of vulnerable circumstances.
The court officials carried out the eviction shortly after 12.30 pm, having deemed the reports submitted at the last minute regarding the situation facing this family, who have no alternative accommodation, insufficient grounds to postpone the measure.
The eviction order, sought by the property owner, was carried out amidst protests by several dozen local residents and housing rights activists who had gathered in Hoya del Rosario Street, organised by the citizens‘ platform ‚Derecho al Techo‘. EFE
