My wife and I have been coming to this beautiful island every January for the past 28 years to relax for six weeks. We can’t believe what the wildfire has done to Tenerife.
The reasons behind the arson attacks in various areas of Tenerife must be urgently investigated. The damage to the natural environment, including burnt-out forests and animals lost forever.
Nevertheless, we will not turn our backs on Tenerife, but will continue to support the island. Moreover, we have made friends there over the years.
Following the forest fire, many people have different memories of Tenerife
For us, at the age of 65, memories also play a major role. That is why I would like to share the photo above with all readers. It was taken in May 2022 on a photography trip with my son.
The view of Mount Teide from the Mirador de Chipeque near Santa Úrsula – which was also destroyed by the forest fire (see below) – is truly beautiful. Enjoy the photo!
The forest fire on Tenerife
Editor’s note: The forest fire on Tenerife is considered the worst in 40 years. Just under 15,000 hectares were destroyed within a 90-kilometre radius. At the time of submitting this reader contribution, the flames were still raging. It is considered certain that the fire was caused by arson. The investigation into this is ongoing. The viewpoint mentioned was also destroyed in the fire:
