'Matria' is a project by the group Caracolas, which has its roots in the Canary Islands. It is based on five years of research and encounters with 210 women from across the archipelago, whose life stories, memories and experiences form the core of the work.
The performance is conceived as an auditory and visual journey. Oral tradition, inherited memory and traditional music from the Canary Islands enter into a dialogue with contemporary forms of expression. Testimonies from projects dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage, including Las Quince, Las Seis de Aguere and Mujeres de Fuego y Lava, serve as the central thread.
The concert takes place at the Auditorio Jameos del Agua in Haría, Lanzarote, and lasts 75 minutes. Admission costs 30 euros. A package option is also available, including a cocktail reception afterwards at Jameos del Agua.
