'La primera palabra' marks the start of the 14th edition of the Palabras al Vuelo international storytelling festival in Lanzarote, which takes place from 8 to 18 October 2026. The opening night is part of the adult programme and brings together three performers: the storyteller Pepito Mateo from France, the storyteller and children's author Pablo Albo from Albacete, and Cristina Temprano.

The venue is the Centro de Interpretación del Camello in Uga, in the municipality of Yaiza. The event begins on Thursday, 8 October 2026, at 19:00. Admission is free. Advance registration is required to attend, subject to a deposit; bookings open on 28 September.

The 2026 edition of Palabras al Vuelo brings together storytellers from four countries and two continents: Africa and Europe. The opening night thus marks the start of a festival entirely dedicated to the art of storytelling.
