The play was written by Pascal Rambert and premiered at the Avignon Festival in 2011. Since then, it has been performed in more than 20 countries. In this version, the text has been developed into a contemporary chamber opera: speech becomes music, breathing becomes rhythm, silence becomes the score. Rather than a plot or elaborate sets, the focus is on the voice, the body and time.
On stage, a man and a woman meet one last time. First he speaks, then she does. In this way, the work breaks down a shared love story into two monologues in which memory, hurt, intimacy and separation collide. The chamber setting enhances the immediacy of this concept.
The libretto was written by Pascal Rambert, with music by Reyes Oteo. Ricardo Campelo Parabavides directs, whilst Juan Bautista Carmena and David González take on the musical direction. The cast includes Ruth González as soprano and Enrique Sánchez-Ramos as baritone. The ensemble features Pilar Fontalba Jimeno on the oboe, Ander Telleria on the accordion, Juanjo Guillem on percussion and Reyes Oteo on electronics.
The production also features electroacoustic design by Pedro Fragüela, lighting by Alicia Soriano, costumes by Rhina, and set design and video by Ricardo Campelo. The production is a co-production by Ópera de Tenerife, the Comunidad de Madrid and Teatro Xtremo. This version premiered on 17 July 2026 at the third Chamber Opera Festival of the Comunidad de Madrid and can now be seen in the Chamber Hall of the Auditorio de Tenerife.
