German drug lord arrested in Tenerife

The request for administrative assistance came from Germany. Spain’s Guardia Civil responded swiftly. The operation was eventually carried out on Tenerife, amongst other places. Two young men were arrested and are accused of organised drug trafficking.

The network run by the two men is alleged to have trafficked cocaine, amphetamine and cannabis. After the BKA uncovered their activities, they are said to have fled to Spain. There, the Guardia Civil assisted the German officers.

The two Germans were eventually arrested near Murcia and on Tenerife. They are now due to be extradited. The two men, aged 33 and 35, will then face trial in their home country on charges of membership of a criminal organisation, drug trafficking and other offences.

Tenerife police assist German BKA

According to the investigations so far, the drug network is said to have distributed considerable quantities of various narcotics. The operation reportedly consisted primarily of the large-scale dispatch and distribution of the drugs. When the investigators got too close to the two drug lords, they moved their base to the south in the summer of last year. From there, they are said to have continued to run the drug ring.

Initially, the unit combating organised drug trafficking in Alicante took on the case. A lengthy investigation was carried out in order to track down the network. In the process, large quantities of drugs were seized. Eventually, this also led to the whereabouts of the masterminds being uncovered.

In the meantime, one of the two men had travelled on to Tenerife. There, he was handcuffed. Shortly afterwards, the second man was also arrested in Cartagena. The National Court ordered that both men be remanded in custody. They are to await their extradition to Germany whilst in custody.
