Traffic on Tenerife was severely disrupted on Thursday following three road accidents that occurred almost simultaneously. The major arterial roads, the TF-5 and TF-1 motorways, were temporarily gridlocked. Traffic jams formed on key access roads to Santa Cruz de Tenerife and at several points in the south of the island.
There was a crash on the TF-5 towards Santa Cruz, near the entrance to the bus lane, at Chamberí. A vehicle collided with the central reservation in the area leading into the capital. The accident was not serious, but it caused significant disruption to traffic.
Traffic jams stretched towards Santa Cruz, extending beyond the University Hospital area. Clean-up crews and emergency services were on the scene. But that wasn’t all:

In a second accident, two vehicles collided on the TF-1 near Granadilla de Abona, heading towards Santa Cruz. Traffic came to a standstill there too. According to the emergency services, there were some minor injuries.
The third accident occurred on one of the busiest stretches of road in the south of the island: a car and a motorbike collided on the TF-1 near Adeje, close to Siam Park. Traffic jams there stretched all the way back to Guaza during the morning.
