On Wednesday, Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council unveiled the Autonomous Cultural Organisation’s programme of performing arts for the coming weeks, which includes events linked to the All Souls‘ Day celebrations, dramatised walking tours, dance performances and audiovisual productions.

Once again this year, the programme features *Don Juan Tenorio*, one of the most frequently performed romantic dramas in Spanish theatre and a play closely associated with All Souls‘ Day, as it explores themes such as death, repentance, redemption and life after death.

The performances will take place at 7.00 pm at various community centres around the city: El Sobradillo on 10 October; Nuevo Obrero on 17 October; and Valleseco on 24 October.

The All Souls‘ Day programme also includes «A History of Canarian Witchcraft», a heritage interpretation experience created by Néstor Verona that combines historical outreach, oral tradition, theatre and traditional music, drawing on the beliefs, superstitions and stories of the Canary Islands.

This production will be performed on 17 October at the Valleseco Community Centre at 7.00 pm; on 30 and 31 October at the Los Lavaderos Art Centre at 8.00 pm; on 7 November at the Nuevo Obrero Community Centre at 7.00 pm; and on 21 November at the El Sobradillo Community Centre at 7.00 pm.

García-Sanabria Park celebrates its anniversary with guided tours featuring theatrical performances

A tour marking the centenary of García Sanabria

The planned activities also include the «Heritage Trail: 100 Years of García Sanabria», a dramatised event set in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 1926, when the city was preparing for the opening of its new Municipal Park, now known as García Sanabria Park.

The tour, which brings together music, figures and events from that era, will take place in November in the park itself to mark its centenary.

The first sessions will take place on Friday 6 November at 6.00 pm and on Sunday 8 November at 11.00 am. They will continue on Sunday 15 November at 11.00 am and on Friday 20 November at 6.00 pm.

On Sunday 22 November there will be two screenings, at 11.00 and 18.00, whilst on Friday 27 November the event will take place at 18.00.

The Masonic Temple and La Recova are being turned into stages

Theatre, dance and audiovisual production

The programme also features ‚Mystery in the Temple‘, an immersive dramatised tour of the Masonic Temple in which participants must solve a mystery using clues, secrets and questions.

Furthermore, the dance performance ‚¡ABRE! Ya estoy aquí‘ explores the different stages of a woman’s life through the body, movement and memory, and addresses the physical and emotional changes associated with the passing of time.

The production features a video installation created in collaboration with video artist Derek Pedrós, which transports the stage production to the La Recova Art Gallery, a space that becomes a stage for reflecting on the beginnings, endings and transitions of life.

The installation brings together images of women’s bodies at different stages of their lives and invites reflection on memory, emotions and the mark left by the passage of time.

The Mayor of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Manuel Bermúdez, and the Councillor for Culture, Santiago Díaz, have presented this programme of performing arts organised by the Autonomous Cultural Organisation.
