Cafés, bars and restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz

Cakes and coffee behind the church at Café Ebano in Puerto de la Cruz

The small café on Calle La Hoya 2 serves chocolate torte, cheesecake and pastries made with local fruit, alongside espresso, cortado, soft drinks and spirits. Open daily from around 9.30am until late evening.

Right in the centre of Puerto de la Cruz lies a café that, at first glance, appears rather unassuming. Just behind the church and the small park is Café Ebano. Whether you’re looking for a quick break whilst sightseeing or simply have a desperate craving for coffee, this café is the perfect place to stop off. Above all, however, it attracts cake lovers and pastry enthusiasts.

Inside, there is a small shop area. Alongside a small ice-cream freezer, it houses the pride and joy of the small team: the large cake counter. And within it lie real treasures. From chocolate cakes and cheesecakes to unusual creations made with local fruit: the Ebano Café offers cake lovers a veritable array of delicious cakes.

Those who prefer something a little less creamy, on the other hand, can look to the right of the cakes for nut squares and other pastries. Connoisseurs will immediately recognise the finest ingredients – such as nuts, honey and good-quality butter – in these little delicacies. And if a guest prefers something even more traditional, there is also a selection of dry cakes on the counter.

But alongside all these sweet treats, the speciality coffees are also outstanding. From the classic café americano to a café con leche, espresso or cortado, all kinds of coffee are served from a professional portafilter machine. And for those who fancy something else to refresh them, there’s a wide range of soft drinks and spirits on offer.

The most popular seats are outside – between the front door and the church opposite. From there, the view stretches down the narrow lane and across the small park. However, there are also further outdoor seats on the side of the café, although these are slightly less popular due to the view and lack of shade. In addition, there are four small tables inside, in front of the display cabinets. And anyone visiting in a larger group or in bad weather can also take a seat behind the counter in a room that seats around 24 people.

Café Ebano is centrally located on the square in front of the church of ‚Nuestra Señora de la Peña de Francia‘, at 2 Calle La Hoya. Café Ebano’s opening hours in Puerto de la Cruz are the same throughout the week: it is open continuously from around 9.30 am until late in the evening.

Our tip: Don’t decide on a particular cake in advance – just pop in and give them a try!
