Cafés, bars and restaurants in Puerto de la Cruz

Don Camilo brings stone-oven pizza to Plaza Benito Pérez Galdós

The Italian kitchen at Calle Mequinez 53 serves pasta, bruschetta and fish or meat dishes, among them beef fillet in pepper sauce for 17 €. Tables spread across the recently renovated square, and the doors stay shut on Tuesdays.

If you fancy a break from Canary Islands cuisine, you’ll find in Puerto de la Cruz plenty of options serving international cuisine. Don Camilo is one of the better restaurants serving international cuisine. This Italian restaurant impresses not only with its food, but also with its lovely outdoor area.

Situated right on Plaza Benito Pérez Galdós, visitors can take a seat not only inside the restaurant but also in the spacious outdoor area. The recently renovated square offers a wonderful view of the illuminated palm trees and the neighbouring bars and restaurants.

Don Camilo – generous portions and good quality

Don Camilo certainly holds its own against the neighbouring establishments. Whilst the menu consists almost exclusively of Italian cuisine, the food is of a very high standard, making it a genuine alternative to the competition. An extensive pizza and pasta menu is complemented by salads, bruschetta, and a selection of fish and meat dishes.

The stone oven perfectly complements the baked delicacies. However, the other dishes are also of a high standard. Our recommendation: the beef fillet with pepper sauce and vegetables (€17). The portions of main courses and starters are huge, which is why it’s best to share the starters.
The outdoor area in particular, despite its size, fills up quickly, especially during the peak season. However, the traffic-calmed neighbourhood is perfect for a stroll, so any waiting time can easily be passed. One slight downside: even on repeat visits, the friendliness of the waiting staff varies depending on their mood on the day.
