Information on Tenerife

Long stays of three months and more draw new visitors to Tenerife

Mild weather year round and low living costs attract retirees, sabbatical takers and anyone planning an extended break. Travel agencies across Europe and island attractions are adapting their offers.

Long-term holidays in Tenerife are all the rage. The island is attracting more and more people who choose to stay on the Canary Island for three months or longer. The mild climate and the low cost of living make Tenerife the ideal destination for long-term holidaymakers. Tenerife has long made a name for itself as a „retiree’s paradise“. But now, more and more people are also being drawn to the Canary Islands for a sabbatical or a break lasting several months. The island is a magnet thanks to its consistent weather and consistently mild temperatures.

Above all, however, Tenerife offers plenty of sights, meaning you could easily spend half a year or more on the island without getting bored.

Travel providers are also becoming increasingly aware of this. Small and large travel agencies across Europe are focusing more and more on long-stay holidaymakers. And in Tenerife itself, too, the various packages on offer are increasingly geared towards this new boom.

For example, Loro Parque offers its visitors the option of purchasing a two-visit ticket. Anyone who visits the zoo a second time within a specified period pays a significantly reduced admission fee. The same applies to similar attractions, such as Siam Park.

Save when booking

However, there is already significant potential for savings at the booking stage: if holidaymakers book a long-stay holiday on Tenerife well in advance, they can receive a discount of up to 25 per cent when booking a package holiday.

However, we recommend booking your flight and accommodation separately. This gives you more flexibility whilst you’re there and allows you to move between cities if you’re staying for several months. It’s usually enough to spend two to three weeks in one place. By then, you’ll already be tempted by a new spot on this wonderfully diverse island, which is simply brimming with sights.
