It was a thoroughly enjoyable Saturday afternoon spent with friends in Tenerife. On the way back from El Sauzal, we got caught in a long traffic jam just before Icod de los Vinos.
‚Sure, that’s nothing new round here,‘ you might be thinking. And you’d be right! However, the reason this time wasn’t quite so ordinary.
In a long stretch of clear road at the start of the traffic jam, a runner duck strutted about in the middle of the main road, holding its head high.
Perhaps Tenerife’s most charming reason for a traffic jam
The lovely thing was that not a single driver honked their horn or showed any sign of impatience. Any annoyance at the unexpected obstacle was either completely absent or evaporated immediately!
Who’s saying here that road users aren’t animal-lovers? I, for one, still really enjoy this brief moment amidst all the hustle and bustle of daily traffic on the Canary Islands!
