Lago Martiánez reopens after years of building work

The pool complex on the Puerto de la Cruz seafront is open again, with the main basin restored. Around it are children's pools, gardens, restaurants, César Manrique's upside-down palms and views of the Teide.

On sunny, cloudless days, you can go for a swim whilst enjoying this fantastic view of Tenerife's most iconic landmark, Mount Teide.

In the large swimming pool, visitors can easily swim out of each other's way. There's plenty of space - even on busy days.

There are also various pools for children. Our tip: this pool, situated right at the western end, is often deserted.

It's different in the official children's area. It's often very busy there.

Meanwhile, the large pool invites you to swim in a relaxed way.

There are various areas in Lago Martianez - including this garden area, which borders directly onto Playa Martianez.
