The ranking counts reports from our readers, checked by photo. It is not an official survey. Rubbish index: weighted reports over the last twelve months per 10,000 inhabitants (small 1, medium 3, large 8). A municipality is ranked from five reports, an island from 20. Cleared spots still count, because the rubbish was there.

How the Gran Canaria litter map works
If you want to report litter, simply tap the button and then tap the relevant spot on the map. After that, please upload a photo and confirm the report by email. An image verification system filters out photos without litter and blurs out people and number plates. The email address will not, of course, appear online.
Once the litter has been cleared, this can be confirmed by taking a new photo of the same location. The marker will then turn green and remain visible for 90 days. We remove markers that have not been confirmed within six months from the Gran Canaria litter map.
