Garachico

Garachico is considered one of the most beautiful towns on Tenerife. The town, situated in the north of the island, was largely destroyed in a volcanic eruption in 1706. Until then, Garachico had been the island's most important port. The harbour was reopened in 2012. Nevertheless, Garachico has lost this status to Santa Cruz. Garachico boasts numerous beautiful spots and buildings. These include the San Miguel castle, the churches of Santa Ana and Nuestra Señora de Los Ángeles, and the monasteries of Santo Domingo and San Francisco. Garachico is regarded as a vast open-air museum and is always worth a visit.
