Firefighters in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria are attempting to extinguish a fire that broke out on Monday morning in an abandoned house on Carretera de Chile, where tyres were being stored, according to sources from the fire service who spoke to EFE.
Municipal sources have told EFE that seven firefighters and three fire engines are in the area attempting to extinguish the fire, which, due to the burning tyres, is «spectacular» and the black smoke it is giving off is visible from many parts of the city.
The fire service has stated that no injuries have been reported, although they are still operating in the area.
