If you’re expecting frills or food tailored to tourists, Casa Pache in Puerto isn’t the place for you. Here, you’ll find the sort of food served in neighbouring homes, rather than what you’d get in typical tourist restaurants.
Puchero: The restaurant recommendation at Casa Pache
The décor is simple, and it doesn’t look as though the feather duster is used every day. In fact, the restaurant is more reminiscent of an elderly local’s home than a restaurant. Visitors to Casa Pache will need to be able to look past all this with a generous spirit. And then they’ll be rewarded with some real delicacies.
Of course, steak served with various potato dishes – a staple of the cuisine of the Canary Islands – is also on the menu. But anyone who finds themselves here should really give the traditional cuisine a try. For example, there is the very tasty gofio served with sauces and onions, or fried goat’s cheese with the typical Canary Islands mojos. Also highly recommended: tuna in Canary Islands sauce or the various dishes featuring squid and cod.
Opening hours of Casa Pache in Puerto de la Cruz
Things get really authentic with the puchero, a traditional stew from the Canary Islands packed with vegetables and various types of meat. However, this house special isn’t available every day. Our tip: ask for puchero. With a bit of luck, you’ll be served a portion!
