Carnival on Tenerife

Titsa runs 4,200 extra services for Santa Cruz carnival

Between 13 and 21 February, around 20 city and intercity lines are reinforced, with all-night buses between Santa Cruz and La Laguna and more than 300,000 additional seats. Car parks at both bus stations stay open.

The carnival in Tenerife will once again attract hundreds of thousands of visitors. The capital, in collaboration with Titsa, is providing public transport links. Visitors are strongly encouraged to use public transport. However, parking spaces are also available.

The public bus company is implementing a comprehensive special plan between 13 and 21 February. The aim is to ensure that all visitors to the Tenerife Carnival can travel to and from the event safely.

In total, the Island Council, the carnival committee and Titsa are promising 4,200 additional journeys and more than 300,000 extra seats. Around 20 urban and inter-regional routes will be reinforced, connecting Santa Cruz de Tenerife with the north and south of the largest of the Canary Islands, as well as with various districts of the city:

Night services: continuous connections between Santa Cruz and La Laguna

During the particularly busy carnival evenings, routes
014 and 015, which link Santa Cruz with San Cristóbal de La Laguna, will run throughout the night at regular intervals.

Night services are also being significantly increased: routes 102, 104 and 108 will offer additional services heading north, whilst routes 111 and 711 will run more frequently heading south. Within the city, the frequency of services will be increased on numerous routes, including those to the neighbourhoods of Ofra, La Gallega, Añaza, Taco, Barrio de la Salud and Santa María del Mar.

Special timetable for the Tenerife Carnival during the grand parade

On the days of the major daytime events, the Carnaval de Día, and the grand parade, the timetable will be adjusted on many routes. On these days, the frequency will be the same as on a normal working day at certain times. In addition, routes with particularly high demand will be reinforced with extra services.

On Sunday 15 February and Saturday 21 February, there will be an increased service on local and inter-regional routes. On Tuesday 17 February (parade), the weekday timetable will apply, as schools will be closed.

Some bus services also alter their routes on these days. For example, during the Carnaval de Día, the number 104 does not pass via the Intercambiador de La Laguna. This is intended to ease the pressure on the bus station there.

For the Sardine’s Funeral (find out all about this quirky tradition here) on Wednesday 18 February, services on routes 014 and 015 will be flexibly increased to meet demand. Additional services will also be provided on other local and regional routes to make it easier for people to leave after the event.

Carnival on Tenerife: Safety and parking

Titsa has announced that security staff and emergency services will be stepped up at the bus stations in Santa Cruz and La Laguna to ensure that passengers can board and alight in an orderly and safe manner.

In addition, the car parks at the two interchange points will remain open throughout on the key days: there are just over 1,400 parking spaces at the bus station in Santa Cruz, and around 200 in La Laguna.
