Puerto de la Cruz clears car parks for Mueca street art festival

Performers from around the world take over the town from 25 to 28 November, with venues at Plaza Europa, the seafront promenade and the car park by the Futuro Parque Marítimo. The full programme is due shortly.

There is a lot of activity in the car park between Plaza del Charco and the Atlantik. The organisers have started closing off the lower section particularly early this year. The space is urgently needed – primarily for the cars expected between 25 and 28 November, but above all for the artists performing here.

For years, the Mueca Festival has been drawing artists from all over the world to Puerto de la Cruz. Once a year, the town becomes a meeting place for people who otherwise sometimes fade into the background. But on the last weekend of November, it belongs solely to them. And to their audience.

Street art is being celebrated in Puerto de la Cruz for four days. The fact that it suits this town in the north of Tenerife is evident not least from the numerous street art murals adorning various building façades (see our photo gallery here for more).

Mueca Festival 2021: Puerto de la Cruz becomes a giant work of art

The Mueca Festival gives artists the space they sometimes lack in everyday life. And the town benefits from thousands of visitors who travel from all over the island – and even from abroad.

The car park at Futuro Parque Marítimo is one of several venues. First of all, a fitness festival is due to take place there, for which preparations are currently under way. However, depending on the scope of the programme, the car park will then also be needed for Mueca.

In addition, artists will be exhibiting and performing at Plaza Europa in front of the town hall, along the promenade and at numerous other locations. In fact, the whole town will become one big work of art. Visitors can expect a lively and often colourful atmosphere in all the pedestrian zones.

The organisers intend to publish the detailed programme shortly. Further information will then be available at Tenerife News and on the Mueca Festival website.
