Weather in Puerto del Carmen on Lanzarote
Puerto del Carmen is situated on the south coast of Lanzarote. The island is flat. With no real mountains, the clouds usually drift over the highest point (just under 700 metres). Consequently, Lanzarote does not have the distinction between a wet and a dry side of the island that is common on other islands. On Lanzarote, the climate is generally arid across the whole island.
That said, the island is characterised by wind. The trade winds sweep unchecked across the flat landscape, making Lanzarote so popular with surfers. As a result, the air temperature on the beach usually feels considerably cooler. Added to this are the often higher waves caused by the wind.
