Playa del Camison in Arona is the name of another beautiful beach in the south of Tenerife. The beach was artificially created using imported desert sand. It takes its name from ‚La Punta del Camison‘, the ‚headland‘ in the south of the island.
Playa del Camison forms part of a veritable belt of beaches stretching through the heavily developed southern region, between the tourist hotspots of Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje. Nevertheless, a trip there is well worth it, as Playa del Camison is considered one of the most beautiful and cleanest beaches in the south of Tenerife.
Playa del Camison in Arona was originally dark in colour, but the lava rock was covered with light-coloured sand, which was imported by ship from the Sahara specifically for this purpose. At 350 metres, this stretch of beach is of average length. It is approximately 40 metres wide. Sun-seekers will therefore find plenty of space for their sun lounger or beach towel.
Popular with sun-worshippers and families
The sea off Arona is relatively calm, with waves generally considered to be of moderate strength at most. The windier north of Tenerife is particularly suitable for surfers, which makes Playa del Camison – as well as the other beaches in the south – even more popular with families and sun-worshippers. There are also good bus links, plenty of parking spaces and a wide range of facilities. And the panoramic view is something special too: in good weather, you can even see as far as Gomera.
As well as sun loungers and parasols for hire, there are also plenty of public toilets and showers. In addition, qualified lifeguards are on hand in case of an emergency.
Anyone planning a holiday in or around Arona will find not only a superb beach but also a range of top-class hotel complexes around the town. The wide range of activities on offer in the south of the island also includes various water sports. You can find further information here.
