A man has died in a flat fire on Calle Tabaibal in Telde, Gran Canaria. The emergency call was received by the 112 emergency call centre of the Government of the Canary Islands at around 1.08 am on Sunday morning.
The fire brigade from the Gran Canaria Emergency Services Network was called out to the residential building and extinguished the fire. Whilst carrying out the fire-fighting operations, the emergency services discovered a person inside the building. The Canary Islands Emergency Services dispatched two ambulances to the scene, one equipped as an emergency doctor’s vehicle and one as a standard ambulance.
The paramedics could only confirm that the man had died. The cause of the fire remains unclear. The Policía Nacional has taken charge of the investigation. The Telde Policía Local provided support during the operation.
